I started my training at Starlite, in May 2019. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to fly, be in control of an aircraft in dynamically changing weather, overcome constant challenges and defy gravity! I spent countless hours on my flight simulator in my own aviation world.
Once I am qualified, I intend to become an instructor for a period of time and then do some bush flying, preferably in Namibia. Thereafter, my goal is to join an airline and become a captain. I want to inspire the younger generation to pursue a career in aviation.
Starlite has impressed me from day 1 and I rate the Company highly. The standards are high, and the instructors are professional and committed. The aircraft are well maintained.
The highlight of my training to date, has to be going solo and obtaining my PPL. I am currently enrolled for a CPL.
At the age of 5 I had the opportunity to fly in a Cessna 172 and I remember all that excitement with the butterflies that overpowered the ‘fear of flying’. It truly was an amazing experience to see how beautiful the earth is from so high up for the first time. I was instantly hooked.
When I heard that the aviation world was a heavily male dominated industry and being a female pilot is strange, I was shocked. I wouldn’t let that stop me. I must say that it wasn’t easy walking into the room on my first day and being the only female there.
I started flying on 15 January 2019 and I am currently in the process of completing my private pilot licence.
What I love most about flying is being behind the controls of a machine that defies gravity and travels above the earth, learning new things and the challenges that comes with it. I never thought I was capable but with Starlite, I proved myself wrong. It is a privilege to fly and I would encourage anyone to choose flying as their career. The highlight of my training at Starlite was the day that I went solo for the first time. The feeling that I got from the moment I took off until touch down was indescribable and it is something that everyone should experience.
My plans are to complete all my courses, do some bush flying in Alaska, become a well-known airline pilot and to encourage women to follow their dreams of becoming pilots.
I would definitely recommend Starlite because the instructors are disciplined, professional, hold us to high expectations and they care about their students.
My parents were both in the air force, this was where my love for flying started. I began my training in 2017 and have recently moved over to Starlite Aviation. I decided to make the move because I preferred the way things are done at their academy, they are also less ‘old school.’
I am currently in the process of completing my fixed wing commercial pilot licence. I would recommend Starlite Aviation because the instructors are very thorough and well organised. The atmosphere at the Academy is also very welcoming.
I started my pilot training on 21 April 2017, and I am currently working towards my helicopter commercial pilot licence and a night rating. Being a pilot was something that I have always been interested in and it a new and different experience.
I chose to do my pilot training at Starlite Aviation Training Academy because they have a stellar reputation as a flight school. My instructors have all been very thorough and careful in making sure that future pilots welcomed and safely trained for the industry. The highlight of my training so far has been learning about the various components of aircraft and flying as well as meeting like minded pilots.
I would recommend Starlite because the training and instruction that I have received is of a very high standard, the staff are very welcoming, and they are always eager to assist us.
My plans for my future are to complete my CPL, night rating and an instrument rating.
From a young age, I aspired to defy gravity and fly! I cannot imagine doing anything else. I would recommend Starlite as the training provider of choice, as the environment is conducive for learning to become a pilot. There were so many highlights during my days as a student, that I cannot single out one. My entire training experience with Starlite was amazing, from the people I have met, to the sites I have seen and more. I am currently a helicopter instructor at Starlite’s Mossel Bay Academy. I intend to grow in experience, so I have a firm foundation for building my career. Some further plans that I have for future and am working on, is to continue to work at creating awareness and generating funds for those aspiring aviators from townships and rural areas, so they too can follow their dream. – X
I began my training at Starlite Aviation Training Academy in late 2014, at the age of 17. I knew little about aviation. Today, I look back to the day when I first started and its funny to think that a young boy not knowing a thing would be able to confidently perform a task in one of the most demanding, responsible and challenging careers.
Starlite exceeded all my expectations and made training to be a pilot the most wonderful experiences that I could have imagined. From the very competent, experienced, disciplined and passionate instructors, who are disciplined and regard procedures and the safety of their student as a number one priority, to the aircraft maintenance team who ensure the serviceably and safety of the aircraft in which we train, to the ground staff who fuel clean the aircraft, as well as Starlite’s holistic approach to training and all-round excellence, the Company worthy of competing with any training academy globally.
Three years into training and I can say that I am confident and well- prepared, to enter the world of aviation and truly grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead. I am excited to enter the commercial world of aviation.
Flying runs in my family. I have flown with my dad since I was 4 years old. I train at Starlite because of the friendly, professional staff and great aircraft availability.
