In conjunction with Smit Amandla we provided helicopter support for the salvage of the MT Phoenix, off the coast near Durban, South Africa. Starlite Puma carried out 129 slings, and carried an estimated 90 tons of equipment into the deck in the few days of the operation.
The mission-ready helicopter was on Medevac standby 24/7 for any emergency evacuations from the ship. During the 41-day operation, pilots and crew experienced hazardous flying conditions daily.
