Drone Pilot Training Courses
You will need to complete approximately 5 days of ground school and allow for 4 weeks practical training. This is, however, a general guideline and depends on the student’s knowledge and ability. We offer class-based or online lessons so you may study from the comfort of your home. It would be preferable to book on a classroom-based course to ensure maximum overall knowledge. Once ground school is completed you will be required to complete multiple choice examinations based on each of the subject modules. You must achieve a minimum of 75% for each subject in order to pass.
An English Proficiency Test which is a requirement, will also be booked for you.
If you hold a SACAA qualification which includes a PPL, CPL or ATPL, you will need to notify us as this will bring down the cost of your course.
What subjects are covered during ground school?
- Human Factors
- Multi Rotor Technical and Principles of Flight
- Flight Planning and Navigation
- Radio Course
How does the practical training work?
Once all of your examinations have been successfully completed, you will progress to the practical course component. These lessons will consist of practical instruction on simulators and flying outdoors. You will need to make a booking for practical lessons in order for your instructor to assess your skill levels and to assist in in improving your flying ability. These lessons are not full-time they are self-booked via our booking facility.
The duration of this practical component will depend on your skills and experience. Once you have been assessed you will proceed to further flight training and will be required to undergo a practical flight examination or ‘Sign Out’ with the Designated Remote Examiner (DRE) as prescribed by the SACAA. Please allow for a minimum of 4 weeks in order to complete your practical training.
