2015 Promises to be an Exceptional Year for Starlite Companies

Starlite Maintenance Durban (SMD) has, since its inception, been dedicated to servicing Starlite’s large fleet of Robinson aircraft for the Company’s Training Academy and aircraft sold through Starlite Aero Sales.  SMD recently expanded its operation to include third party maintenance, on the full range of Robinson and the Guimbal Cabri G2 aircraft.

Starlite Maintenance Johannesburg (SMJ) introduced a highly successful AME Apprenticeship Programme initiated by Director of Maintenance Rodney Meier, last year.  Apprentices attend the Mega Aero Training Academy (MATA) in Johannesburg to follow a customised curriculum in Aircraft Mechanics, followed by practical hands-on training at one of the many Starlite bases in Durban, Mossel Bay or Heidelberg, South Africa.

Starlite Aviation International Training Academy made history recently, when 27 students from the Kenya Police Air Wing, Kenya Army and Kenya Air Force began their pilot training simultaneously. In the past 6 years, the Academy has seen many Kenya students graduate from its highly acclaimed Training school.  However, the recent combined intake of 27 students, 22 of which are completing Ab-Inito training on the Robinson and Cabri aircraft, 3 on the Instructor’s Course on the Robinson, Cabri, Bell 212 and Elite Simulator and 2 on the Instrument Rated Examiner’s Course, is a first for the Academy.

The Academy is committed to enhancing skills development, technology transfer and career opportunities in the aviation industry.  The Company has become an African and global leader, providing superior helicopter, fixed wing training and AME apprenticeships, achieved only by remaining in the forefront of technology.  To remain ahead in the business of aviation, facilities and equipment are continually upgraded to ensure that students receive world class instruction whilst significantly improving on safety and skills.  Instructors are highly qualified, motivated and passionate, ensuring the students the finest academically structured course content and lectures.

The Academy prides itself on developing each individual by encouraging responsibility, accountability and teaching students to set personal goals to facilitate success in their chosen career of aviation.

Starlite Aero Sales has, once again, achieved high volumes of sales of Robinson aircraft. Furthermore, the Company specialises in the sale of Guimbal’s Cabri G2 helicopter, the Elite Simulator, used helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, and the sale of spare parts for a range of aircraft types.  Offering an integrated aviation solution which includes; sales, finance, insurance, import/export, CAA registrations and airworthy certification, aircraft management and maintenance support, makes Starlite Aero Sales the Company of choice.

Starlite Local Charters a division of Starlite Operations, reopened its doors in 2014 and are fast becoming the helicopter Company of choice for private and company use.  The Company has secured contracts from Government and private business, further boosting the Charter Division. Offering a range of Corporate packages including; business to business transportation, geological, mining and power line survey, aerial photography and local customised charters to local landmarks, and inland adventures, has positioned Starlite Charters as one of the leaders in this field of business.
