VACANCY: GR II FIXED-WING FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (AD-HOC)
REPORTING TO: CHIEF FLYING INSTRUCTOR | LOCATION: MOSSEL BAY
Starlite Aviation Training Academy (Pty) Ltd has a requirement for a self-motivated, dedicated, and well-spoken individual to fill this position in Mossel Bay within the Starlite Group.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Based at Mossel Bay; you are responsible for the delivery of the SA CAA approved and International flying training programmes presented at Starlite Aviation. This includes practical flying instruction and theoretical ground instruction, as well as any other flying or training related tasks you may be required to perform.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all duties relating to flying and ground instruction in a proficient and competent manner in accordance with the TPM.
- Always maintain a professional image, act in a disciplined, polite, and tactful manner when dealing with students.
- Compliance with all Company and SACAA policies and procedures with specific reference to Flight and Duty, timeous licence currencies and the TPM.
- Task: All instructors shall: –
- Handle with care all aircraft and training aids belonging to the company
- Maintain their personally allocated instruction manuals, handbooks, working copies, bulletins, and circulars well up to date
- Adhere to all safety standards both on the ground and in the air and ensure that all incidents/accidents/hazards and potential hazards are identified and that the Safety Representative, CI and the CFI are notified both verbally and/or in writing.
- Ensure that all problems (flying and non-flying) experienced by students as well as non-performance by students is brought to the attention of the Chief Flight Instructor / Chief Instructor.
- Responsible for updating of flight on duty spreadsheets, ab initio instruction times and instructors file regularly. Ensure timeous renewal of licence, CRM, and DG.
- Responsible for the pre-flight and re-fuelling of the aircraft, even though the students perform the tasks, and tech-logs must be properly completed and signed off.
- Remain current with regards to red tags, all aspects of aviation law, CATS & CAR’s, AICs, AIPs and Notams.
- Occupational Health & Safety.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The following is essential for this position:
- Grade 12.
- SACAA CPL (A) License, Instructor Grade II rating.
- Excellent written and oral ICAO ELP.
- In depth understanding of all relevant SA CAA Manuals and Regulations.
- Willing to conduct domestic and international travel as required by the company.
- Minimum of 200 hours instruction.
The following is preferred for this position:
- Military Flying Training Experience.
- Human Factors Instructor Experience.
- Flight Safety Officer Experience.
