Vacancy: Group Payroll Officer

Location: Durban

Starlite Aviation Group has a requirement for a strong, reliable, detail-oriented professional to fill the position of Group Payroll Officer in Durban.

Key Job Responsibilities: –

  • Preparation and processing of monthly payroll for 10 companies
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll statements
  • Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages and reporting on this
  • Liaising with staff and management on payroll related queries
  • Collecting, calculating, and entering data to maintain and update payroll information
  • Maintaining leave, sickness and overtime reports
  • Administration of staff benefits
  • Processing increases and calculation of back pays
  • Generating, processing, payment and submission of statutory return
  • Responsible for month end consolidation, and reconciliation and payment of payroll and group tax
  • Preparation of month end journal entries
  • Schedule bank payments, and reconcile creditor and remuneration bank accounts
  • Mid-year and to year-end payroll tax reconciliation and submission to SARS
  • Annual submission of WCA return
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations
  • Assistance with processing data input into the Accounting System Assistance with BEEE reporting and data compilation

Qualifications and Position Requirements

The following list of qualifications is essential to fill the position:

  • Grade 12
  • Industry Related Diploma or Degree
  • Proven work experience as a Payroll Officer, Payroll Clerk or similar role
  • Minimum 5 years payroll experience, specifically on SAGE VIP Payroll
  • Experience with payroll in South Africa, Ireland and Mauritius (or international equivalent jurisdictions) advantageous.
  • Tax legislation experience
  • Must be numerate and have an understanding of basic financial concepts
